Berlin Battle Damage
One of the things I love about walking around Berlin is that the evidence of the heavy fighting here in April/May 1945 is not far away, when Soviet soldiers fought what was left of the Berlin garrison in the streets of the city.
The above building in the Mitte district, and close to Museum Island, shows the scars of a terrific and forgotten battle from the end of WW2; it has impact marks on it not only from small arms fire, but heavy machine guns, artillery and also tank shells.
